The design pivots on a central axis with an entrance ‘folly’ directed to greet its neighbour whilst sharing its architectural demeanour.  A laurel hedge encloses an ornamental and classically influenced privet garden that resonates with the site’s surroundings.  Vista opportunities are offered through the folly in to the central courtyard garden upon entering the building but can only be traversed following a journey through the space below.

The thoughtfully crafted incisions in the ground penetrate the space below with natural light to create a theatrical and sublime narration of the elegant and sweeping forms which are transformed in each season and each day of the year, each hour of the day, and each moment.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Vita Planning & Landscape Architecture were asked to design a home that is focused on entertaining.  The small site dictated a multi-level garden approach.  Entering from the upper level, one’s view is of the main terrace below, where an infinity-edge pool bleeds into the Pacific Ocean.  Underneath the pool is a Turkish bath inspired entertainment grotto with a spa, bar, TV and lounging alcoves, all richly detailed with handmade tiles, carved stone columns and mandalas and custom light fixtures.

Built in 1907, this Pacific Heights view mansion is a classic piece of San Francisco architecture that has remained in the same family throughout its history. Set back from Pacific Avenue for the utmost in privacy, this grand residence is perched on the south side of the 2800 block of ‘Outer Broadway,’ one of only three blocks known as the ‘Gold Coast’ of San Francisco – where the most prestigious homes in all of The City take center stage with commanding presence. Today, the historic residence stands as it was – a classic example of Dutch Colonial Revival architecture with shingled facade, period lighting, and myriad diamond divided light windows, plus picture windows that present magnificent Golden Gate Bridge and Bay views.
